Prior to that John (Father) was Technical Manager at Spode for five years, and prior to that he was a Head of Research for Royal Doulton. These are the same top quality mugs that we decorate by other methods every day - as you will see throughout our website - but these we machine-print in order to reduce our costs of production to the absolute minimum. We can direct silk-screen print on to both inexpensive mugs of earthenware, porcelain or stoneware and on to selected bone china mugs. By combining our years of experience in precision ceramic printng with the simpler technology and engineering of direct silk screen printing, we are able to use this process for a wide range of single colour designs, even those containing areas requiring precision half-toning. We do not use this decoration technique for anything other than single colour work as colour registration does not meet the exacting standards that we at Chown China set ourselves.
